All right, well caribou, nitena to full circle with joyce and happy wednesday to you to this morning. We want to dive into health and wellness and to begin with we’re bringing you a topic that is oftentimes slightly uncomfortable to talk about, but when it comes to health awareness is absolutely key, and so gentlemen, those of you who are watching the show did that sometimes your performance or your the health. The state of your reproductive organs can actually be a sign of bigger issues: okay, including what you eat, and even your fitness, to help us unpack this this topic and to discuss this dr wilson murundu who’s, a urologist, kari busana to the show doctor. Thank you and also gideon onoka who’s, a fitness coach good to see you as well caribou, gentlemen. Hopefully, your wednesday is going well very, very perfect, excellent. Now, when it comes to seeking health and just finding out more about wellness, what our bodies need taking care of ourselves oftentimes, we kind of find that for men, that’s sort of like a little harder to matches [Laughter] so that terry, for you how easy! Or how often do you see men voluntarily come in for a checkup? That is a very good question and I can say for the men: they have a bigger limitation when it comes to them explaining or them coming out to share their concerns, and I can say, apart from just the main topic ed as we’ve shared, there’s so much that is attached to the functionality of the mans organ. Now I can see that there is that premature ejaculation, that’s come on board there is that lack of ejaculation totally, and there is that aspect of even just losing their drive to have sex all those are compounded into us. I I won the whole aspect of functionality, about the organ right and to the men I can say. Whoever I see is mostly just because of a reference either by the spouse or a very concerned person who feels that he needs to get a quick medication or a quick management before the problem falls out of the hand okay. So when you’re talking about erectile dysfunction or ed, it’s it’s almost, it seems like, then it’s much more encompassing than what we yeah very true, because for us many of us understand erectile dysfunction as just the inability to have our erection and sustaining it till the end. But when we come to now the nitty-gritties of what brings in the whole aspect of erectile dysfunction and whatever is associated, it’s a very big topic, and I can say it can’t just be tackled at one shot, because it needs more in more more more thoughts and more input and how well we can manage the whole okay. So, in light of it being very broad, as you’ve said, we will undoubtedly have to make some generalizations. So can we talk about some of the causes or what are the sort of the inputs? The factors that come into causing ed, I can see whatever brings electrical dysfunction, can be related to a wider range, a weather aspect of our lifestyle issues. We have cases like styles yeah, like we have people who, like a age of less than 40 years, some of them. They start on the case of fast first life. They eat fast foods, they take drinks, they they party outside out there and in the long run they start getting some of the diseases that affect them. You find someone at the age of 30 40, starting to have conditions of high blood pressure, someone at the age of 30 40 having obesity, we have at the age of 30 40 being getting on drugs, for, let’s say, high blood pressure and all that and those are some of the factors that now water down or bring in a weightier issue on their electrical functionality. Now, let’s take for a case that you someone at the age of 30 or someone like in comparison with someone at the age of 60., that person at the age of 60 is more probable to get more likely to have the functionality defects because of the age. But when you compare to someone and they’re less than 30 years, you find that they don’t need to be having those conditions, but because because of the lifestyle conditions, they start having those issues and in the long run they find that they are affected to a certain extent that it’s only the spouses who come out and share that. I really need help concerning this wow very interesting and we’ll be coming back to talk about what sort of solutions there are, how you can treat that, especially when it’s when it’s one that is caused by a lifestyle choice but gideon coming to you when you hear dactarius say that that a lot of erectile dysfunction is actually a result of lifestyle, you’re, a fitness coach, obviously entire body wellness. Fitness is not just about working out in the gym, but even what you input into your body. So when you hear him talk about that, I mean what what rings through your mind. It’s very simple, as you said, the lifestyle conditions- and it is true majority of the people- there’s no they’re doing what they don’t know. That is a problem not only about how they’re training and what they’re doing as well. It is to take care of their body. You see when you having a good diet and coming to the gym. All these things comes up about the functionality of the body and brings in the circulation of the body the blood into the system. So the organ itself that we are talking about, it is something that is somewhere doesn’t understand. What’s supposed to be done for it to react, but the communication of the body is much important, so the lifestyle diseases they’re major and a bigger problem for the people, so we advise them to just step in the gym, just try and do something that will help your body circulate to the norm and don’t pile a lot of calories and cholesterols in your body right, but now, when you’re talking about so obviously dr, are we then saying there’s nothing like it’s hereditary or genetic that you will end up with erectile dysfunction. Is that possible? I bet on it yeah the case of having a hereditary condition as as ed as a heritage. Condition is out whatever, when, when we compare our present lifestyle trends in comparison to the old age, I can assuredly tell you the old age guys never used to have some of these conditions yeah and these conditions they come up just because, with the current rate of our current rate of our exposition, you are so much engrossed with your duties. Maybe you don’t have the right time to take the right meals. All you need to do you step in there in java, take a cup of coffee with some sausages with some hamburgs and all that in comparison to those old age, they used to go farm, get a cassava, they eat it right in the morning. They take a good starchy meal during the day they get full of proteins and vitamins through the day late in the night, they eat a good balance. That, and now that is the real the difference, and you can see that. Maybe, if at all, you are your generations that was, they had a population of a larger household in comparison to the present. Nowadays, someone can have this one or two and that they’re at the extent that when when we feel that the whole problem is now centra is centrally now on the aspect of our lifestyle is: whenever you find the current the current household that you’re having nowadays one two kids, three kids are enough: it’s not that some of these things are not known. Some. These are known because our the the head of the house, maybe has a condition, and all it comes through is just because it was just a chance and, and a case of let’s say like let’s keep up with whatever we have at the end, yeah yeah. So let’s get very real about this, because the truth I mean you both are very young, guys, yeah, yeah young guys over the weekends men will want to go watch football with their boys, so there’s also an effect of kenyan men eat a lot of reds. Are there consequences with that as far as ed is concerned, but even just as young guys yourselves, because I think you mentioned even something like alcohol can have an effect. So for you, as a fitness coach, when you’re looking at wellness beyond just going to the gym, you see, this is a lifestyle and if you take it at a particular level, then you’ll be diminishing. The whole aspect of wellness wellness is wide. It’s something that you can discuss in a minute. So when you align your life in a point of having the right thing that you’re supposed to eat- and you see taking alcohol, taking red meat or taking white meat, does that one does not does not limit you from doing what is right? What is right is, after you’ve taken all those things in your system, because I mean also the fitness aspect is not to keep you in a gloomy room for you to be like [, __, ] living a boring life, people take alcohol, yeah yeah, I have people who take alcohol and they train them, and the steel system works better. So this is what happens when you take that alcohol? How many calories have you taken in your body? And now, when you work out, how can you be in a position to burn the same amount of calories that you’re taking into your body right you get. So if you can maintain your system, regenerating the new organs in your body in terms of cells, then you’ll be helping your body to a level that it wants at a certain percentage, because your body is created at some point. It knows when it needs to be circulating the blood the mind knows when it needs to be regenerating the dna, so you need to understand, but all these things you’re doing kindly just do something: a fitness activity right, physical activity, but even if you’re, if you’re eating meat and we’re not okay, because I know there’s going to be a dude, that’s not what you’re saying, but even just to have it in moderation, yeah! Have it in moderation! That’s why I say that the limit. The good thing is most of us as young men. What you normally wait for is we always wait for a second chance to make our first impression. So the problem is you see what the lifestyle I’m living and you want to live that lifestyle, so me I can take today I can go in a club and take a take alcohol right. Maybe I’ll take three bottles for me. You you will take like me. It’s an example, though I know you will so you will take like me, but you never know behind the scenes. How many calories I burn you see, I can be burning the same thing I know yesterday was a cheat day for me, and maybe I do it once in a week or once in a month, but you since you want to live a lifestyle that I live, and you show me once taking that alcohol. You will adapt to that system and then, when you adapt what what’s happening, you’re running to a base, you’re running to hypertensions you’re having having all these problems, and now you go to the gym, you’re told what you’re thinking is. You need to keep cubs aside because of what what you’re skipping in your body. It is not that the body was taking. The body takes the small percentage that it wants, the other percentage you will store outside your system. Then that means you will start seeing another word that I don’t want to mention so so the thing is just that routine yeah, all right, all right guys, we’re gonna, take a short break in just a minute, but daktari and gideon are gonna, be joining us after the break. Of course, you can keep your comments and your feedback coming on double two triple nine: that’s our sms line and also reach us on social media at switch tv kenya on our facebook page and when we come back, I want to start talking about supplements. Is that a good way to go and what about also prevention when it comes to age, because, obviously our bodies go through wear and tear? So is there something that can be done for someone who is making those conscious decisions to live well, making the right lifestyle choices? What can they do? Keep it locked right here. This is full circle with joyce, we’ll be back in just a bit all right guys. Well, thank you! So much for joining us and being a part of our show. We really do appreciate you and thank you for those of you who are engaging with us on our social media platforms as well as on our sms line. That’s double two triple nine! I’m gonna get to a few questions in just a bit, but we’re continuing our discussions here with dr wilson murundu who’s a urologist and I have gideon onoka as well who’s a fitness coach and we’ve been talking about erectile dysfunction, and so gentlemen, let’s continue our discussions this morning, you’ve stated very clearly: erectile dysfunction is not a matter about hereditary, it’s not genetic. It’s a lifestyle choice. It manifests out of the choices we’ve made in our lifestyles, and so with that. There’s this perception that in yawazee yeah, but you’ve seen I’m sure, you’ve seen a lot of young guys come through to your office that are suffering erectile dysfunction. Is that true, very true? What would you say is the youngest patient I can. I can tell you the youngest patient I’ve ever had to manage is someone at the age of twenty twenty yeah. I really need to say twenty something, and that is the sad truth about it, because they are already in the arts. How is that through? What like alcohol or whatever? And that is where I’m heading to these young men after us consulting having two three sessions. We find that this young man got more open and he started to tell us the real thing as to why he was having those cases and we he couldn’t have diagnosed him himself. But after sharing a period of time and having that openness and there he he developed that he was on amphetamines. Some of these powerful drugs that are on the streets. He was trying to bulk up amphetamines being the mostly the stimulants yeah they. They are the likes of the drugs of abuse right and for a while. He was having a case with them, while in school the parents were not aware about it and after school and while on holidays, maybe they’re escaped, and all that that is when he realized coming secretly to my aid, and we had a own talk truth, and we realized that us. He had so much of the addiction in him that it was weighing him down and he couldn’t do anything wow now, besides, just having that in adequacy yeah to have an erection and have it fully. The challenge was the the tissues and the muscles were already extensively worked out because you understand when it comes to ex the excretion process of the hard drugs and all that they have a toll on your kidneys and your whole excretion excretion system. Now, to a certain extent, we are on a recovery process with him. Okay, but now dealing with the addiction is now us among the youth, and that is the main concern that we are sharing with many people that the drug addiction, alcohol, the canadian cannabis the cases of just smoking because smoking you you as a passive smoker. You are much more predisposed to some of the damaging effects, so these things people think they’re looking cool, because because someone might be smoking by your side- and you just feel that he’s the one who is being affected much, but you are bearing the bigger branch of the of the smoke now, all you need to do is just talk to the young ones, that this problem is not a result for the old ones, and it can affect them, so they have just to at least if at all, they have to drink they drink responsibly and if at all, they have to to to take it to another level. They have to be conversant with the side effects and some of the challenges that we face in the long run yeah. That is the major thing I feel like. This is a good point to bring you in your fitness coach. We know that fitness has a way of releasing endorphins in your body. I want you to speak about the avenues, alternatives to sort of joy and fun that people can find even through fitness, that you don’t have to be engaging in drugs, and I mean surely I’m sure if you’re busy working on your health and well-being, you don’t have time for drugs. You don’t have time for alcohol and like just or abusing all sorts of substances. Can you talk to young men watching us right now about the lifestyle that they can have that that’s not being cool right because you’re? Clearly I mean 20 years old. That’s a very sad story. It’s very, but first of all I’ll go back to the point and be real. E.D will never be cured by fitness. First of all, the person to discover what you have in your body is a doctor. Now another process. When you come to fitness, fitness will only either help you prevent or help you manage manage so most people. They can hear such kind of a conversation and they run to the gym. Thinking they’ll be in a position to recover whatever they’ve messed up with now we need to know in fitness. It is all total fun, as I told you before, fitness you need as well to engage in. It is an activity that you like, and you need to start a fitness of your mind when you start your fitness in your mind, then it results to your body. You’re inside you becomes your outside you yeah. So if you’re outside you is looking like what you don’t like, what about you inside you yeah, you see your heart has a lot. Only one thing to do: to circulate that blood, you’re denying it that chance of keeping it healthy to do the circulation in your vessels. Now, when you have such kind of a condition and come to the gym, the only thing that we always advise people when you have that condition, you need to start at least with a professional to help. You work out your pelvic floor muscles deeper into it. There’s some vessels in your body that responds before it starts generating the whatever we want in the libido to support your erection and now any person you see out there don’t assume they’re all okay, because what happens is by the way on another concept. People assume let this bodybuilders, they don’t. In fact, your muscles are built on a testosterone level yeah and when you have the best natural testosterone, then you it means you have a healthy body, yeah. Okay, now, if you have a healthy body- and it is responding to the same now, it helps you perform now on a point of living healthy and finding a lifestyle in what you need to do in a good way. Get a group of people get like three or four people, because on your own, if you’re not dedicated, you won’t do it get a group of people set up your program start doing activities even outside work. Climb. The mountain do some fun things and it will help you at the end of the day, you’ll notice, I’ve been doing something which is helping me. Okay, let me get to some sms’s here. Someone asks is erectile, dysfunction, related in any way to prostrate cancer. Great question there, dr aha, that’s a good one: prostate cancer under erectile dysfunction. I can say when we diagnose someone having ed, they are the cause. There are some causes that bring about those conditions and because they are all in the line of functionality when it comes to. You are your manhood, the prostrate. The prostate is just a small organ, a smaller tissue just by your main organ and this functionality it can be affected by some of these. We call them the free radicals and these free radicals. They can be the ones that bring down the activity of your your tissues and your muscles, and if at all, the tissue and the muscles are worn out in one way either by the effect of the radicals that affect the prostate, the prostate are part of the organ. The whole organ will go down because it also affects its ability to even maintain that farm effect and, to a certain extent, I relate both because it affects the whole functionality of the main organ, because there is that the the prostate, which is a smaller part of your organ yeah, there’s that the bin lining and all that all those if at all one tissue is affected the whole s of the ability to maintain and keep it up is also affected. Okay, some two more questions for here for you that I’d hope, you’d answer very quickly, as we run out of time for this segment. But thank you you’re. Fine. Thank you guys for sending us the the comments and the feedback. A lot too can diabetes cause erectile dysfunction, outrightly it can diabetes. Is such a major issue amongst those who are having these functionality problems, and you find someone with diabetes is either worn out by the medications they’re using, and that is the reason why we say some of the medications that we use at the conventionals. They do have a good effect to manage the conditions you are in okay, but they in the long run, predispose us to some other factors. Right, let’s say like a diabetic person who is on some kind of drugs and the effect of the drugs are so much you taking a drug for more than 10 years, taking it for more than 15 years. You can ask yourself, where are the residuals or where are the metabolites which are being after after the drug is walked down in the system? Where do they really go? Okay, even if they are excreted, there is some which remain in the tissues and once they sedimented the lung organs. That is the end because it starts weighing down your functionality all right. Another question here: very quickly: do drugs like viagra, actually work to treat erectile dysfunction. I can say there is a process that will bring about the functionality of an organ. We have processed surgical procedures and after these surgical procedures- and you are put back on some of the medications you will be able to achieve- but to a certain extent, are they drugs. They have some other ideas that are unwanted drug reactions in such a way that, once you start using something like viagra, something like it’s a wide range of medications once you use it the first time, the second time you continue using the third time, you’ll have the urge to increase the dosage, and that is the start of having the vascular degeneration in such a way that they won’t be in a position to be firm as they were yeah the first time you achieved your goal. The second time you come in you achieve your goal, create a dependency exactly now that dependency now works against your tissue ability to manage its own ability to keep up all right. Now, in the long run, you find that you are growing from the let’s say the 50 milligram tablet to the 100 milligram tablet, and you start doing more and more dosages just for you to keep yourself up for that occasion, all right, so just to recap, I mean, based on what daktari is saying. I know I need to wrap up now, but gideon his points were exercise very important for you. It’s not going to treat ed, but it can help you manage it absolutely, but even the bigger point that you stressed earlier, which I I really do appreciate, both of you have stressed that this is actually a lifestyle disease often they’re. Not it is a lifestyle disease there’s 20 year olds are suffering from this out of lifestyle choices, so a challenge to all men out there to be very mindful of the choices that they’re making what you’re inputting into their body. Don’t look at gideon and just think you want to pump in whatever [Laughter] yeah. Absolutely. Thank you so much gentlemen for being here pleasure to have you on the show, we’re going to take a short break guys, but when we come back we’re going to have a representative from the kenya red cross, training school and he’s going to be telling us about how you can manage emergencies at home, how you can prepare for emergencies at home this and much more right here on the show full circle with joyce I’ll, be back in just a bit.
