COVID-19 CAUSES ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION #Study suggests
A recent study has found that men who have contracted COVID-19 are more likely to experience erectile dysfunction. The study, which was conducted by scientists at the University of Milan, looked at a group of men who had been hospitalised with the virus.
Of the men studied, nearly half reported experiencing erectile dysfunction after contracting the virus. This is compared to just over a quarter of men who did not have COVID-19. The study also found that the longer a man was infected with the virus, the more likely he was to experience erectile dysfunction.
The scientists believe that the erectile dysfunction is caused by the virus itself, and not by the stress of the illness. They say that the virus could damage the blood vessels and nerves that are essential for an erection.
The study’s lead author, Dr. Alessandro Littarru, said that the findings suggested that COVID-19 could have a “significant impact” on a man’s sexual health. He said that the findings should be taken into account when treating men with the virus.
The study was published in the journal Andrology.
